Osamu Tezuka Works

As the "father of anime" Osamu Tezuka was responsible for a great body of work. A partial list of his films and television work is available on the Internet Movie Data Base. There are several web sites focusing on Tezuka and his works. The official site associated with the Osamu Tezuka World museum dedicated to his legacy run by his production company is partially available in English, although the best parts are in Japanese. Here are some of his other most famous works:

Astro Boy
Built by the grieving Dr. Tenma, Astro was designed to take the place of Tenma's dead son. But Tenma was ultimately disgusted with his creation, and rejected him. Astro found a new family with Professor Elefun and others, and moved into animation history.

In this series, which debuted on NBC in 1963, the robot boy Astro will awaken in 2003. Fans of Tezuka's series look forward to the "awakening" of Astro Boy in 2003, and his company, Tezuka Productions, is already gearing up for the event with new merchandise, reprints of the original manga, etc.

Unico
The adventures of a magical unicorn.

Legends of the Bible
Dramatizations of Biblical events, commissioned by EWTN.
